YAKUB BABCHIN

Bio: Cartoonist and comic book writer. Creator of illustrations for the comic books "Olympia of Gdansk", "City with a View", "Ballad of Eulalia". Author of the comic book series "Guardian of Cones", which included "Passenger" to the script of Tomasz Kontny and They were with "Nami od zawsze" to the script of Piotr Szulc. Storyboard artist and Illustrator of a series of animations for the Archaeological Museum in Gdansk. Co-creator of the urban project: Comics in the City, City in Comics: A Comic Guide to the Lower City. Winner of second place at the International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz in 2015 for his work "Charlie Cudak", for a script by Piotr Szulc. At PJATK Gdańsk he is involved in comics. 

TOMASZ BOGUSLAWSKI

Bio:Born in 1958 in Gdańsk. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk from 1977 to 1982.
Since 1983, he has been a research and teaching staff member at this university, currently a professor at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. Since 2018, he has been a professor at the Faculty of New Media Arts at PJATK in the Gdańsk branch of the same university.
His work covers various forms of graphic design: posters, visual communication, editorial graphics, philatelic editions, and small graphic forms.
He is a multiple winner of the Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice (1983, 2009 – Gold Medal, 1985, 2011 – Silver Medal, 1995, 2005 – distinction and endowed award, 2015 – distinction) and twice Grand Prix (2003, 2007).
International awards: 10th International Biennial of Theater Posters, Rzeszów 2005 – 3rd prize, Taiwan International Poster Design Award 2007 – final selection, 12th International Biennial of Theater Posters, Rzeszów 2009 – 1st prize, 3rd International Biennial of Poster, Bolivia BICeBe 2009 – 1st prize in the cultural poster category, 6th International Triennial of Stage Poster, Sofia 2010 – Grand Prix, The 5th China International Poster Biennial, Hangzhou 2011 – Special Jury Award, 6th International Biennial of Social and Political Posters, Oświęcim 2016 – 1st prize. 3rd International Poster Biennial Lublin 2017 – Gold Medal 15 BICM – 15th Biennial Internacional del Cartel en Mexico 2018 – 3rd prize and Bronze Medal in the cultural poster category.

ANTONINA BUSZEWICZ-HRYNIEWICZ

Degrees: dr.

Bio:A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she obtained a master's degree with honors in Graphic Arts and Illustration. In addition to working at universities, she fulfills herself as an independent, non-commercial artist. In her work, she combines painting and graphic techniques. She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. As an artist, she crosses the boundaries of absurdity, kitsch, and good taste. At PJATK Gdańsk, she runs an illustration studio and courses in painting and drawing for prospective students. She co-runs an outdoor art workshop for PJATK Gdańsk students. She collaborates with the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she runs an Illustration Design studio for part-time students. She requires her students to be open-minded, to push their own boundaries, to have a sense of humor, and to work conscientiously. 

BEATA CEDRZYNSKA

Degrees: Ph.D., prof. PJATK

Bio: Bornin Gdańsk. Graduated from the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts, in 1999, under the supervision of Prof. Teresa Miszkin. In 2002-2012, she was employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She obtained her postdoctoral degree in fine arts at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She served as vice-dean of the Faculty of New Media Arts at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Gdańsk, where she is employed as a professor. She is the author and participant of approximately 120 individual and collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. ROBERT DOLEWSKI

Degrees: dr.

Functions performed in the departmental structures: Lecturer

Bio: Doctor of Humanities in philosophy (specialization: contemporary philosophy). In his scientific work, he tries to combine various manifestations of modern Western thought, such as philosophical hermeneutics (P. Ricoeur, H.G. Gadamer), phenomenology (E. Husserl, M. Merleau-Ponty), philosophy of F. Nietzsche and post-structuralism (G. Deleuze, M. Foucault), psychoanalysis and depth psychology (S. Freud, K.G. Jung, E. Fromm) or performatics (R. Schechner), in the context of which he tries to analyze the cultural-creative activity of man.He was the co-creator and co-organizer of a number of projects popularizing philosophy, such as the author's lecture series Philosophy at the IKM, carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Urban Culture in Gdansk, the popularization meetings conducted jointly with Prof. Aleksandra Pawliszyn, PhD, of the Academy of Fine Arts under the name Philosophical Conversations, and a series of open mini-lectures on the philosophy of art held at the PATIO of the Academy of Fine Arts.Participant of theoretical and artistic projects co-led with the staff of the ASP in Gdansk and combining theoretical classes with creative workshop work, including a series of interdisciplinary classes Re_creative Workshops, conducted together with Prof. Wojciech Zamiara and Dr. Anna Włodarska in numerous cultural and educational institutions in Gdansk and Sopot (individual workshops received funding from city grants).Since 2015, he has been working with the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk as a didactician, where he gives lectures on philosophy, aesthetics, sociology, as well as seminar classes and writing workshops for graduate students. Lecturer at Gdynia University of the Third Age, implementing classes in philosophical issues. Since recently (2023) also a didactician at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology.

MARIUSZ HOFFMAN

Degrees: MA.

Functions performed in the departmental structures: Lecturer, supervisor of student internships

Bio: Graphic artist. Graduated from the Painting and Graphic Arts Department of the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdansk. He earned his diploma in graphics in the studio of Professor Jerzy Krechowicz, and his painting studies in the studio of Professor Kiejstut Bereźnicki. Since 1991, he has actively participated in collective and individual exhibitions of the Association of Polish Artists. In 1993, individual exhibition of graphic works at EMPIK Gdansk. In 1995, individual exhibition of traditional and digital graphics at Sopot BWA "William Shakespeare - digital graphics and traditional poster". Cooperates with Gdansk cultural centers, and publishing houses. He designs posters, book covers, illustrations, artistic and applied graphics. He designs and publishes theater posters for theaters and philharmonics from all over Poland. He also does easel painting. His work includes many logo designs, album covers, advertising designs and packaging.
He runs his own graphic design studio, making posters and advertising graphics. Since 2013, she has been teaching young people, as a lecturer of graphics and computer design DTP and Computer Workshops for students at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology and also for several years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk.


MAGDALENA KORBUSZEWSKA

Degrees: MA.

Functions held in the departmental structures: Lecturer, member of the Faculty Council

Bio: A graduate of Art Education in Fine Arts, specializing in Cultural Animation and Art Criticism at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In her work, she explores themes of memory and the relationship between humans and nature. She is involved in local and social activities. Many cultural institutions in the Tri-City have placed their trust in her, establishing educational and artistic collaborations. At the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, she teaches the following classes:

A lover of wicker and natural weaving. Member of the Polish Weavers Association. KORA TEA SMITH

Degrees: MA.

Functions performed in the departmental structures: Lecturer

Bio: Cultural anthropologist, archaeologist, lecturer, author of cultural and artistic projects, art historian and collector. Author of scientific articles, art projects, comic book writer. She analyzes the relationship between things and people, combining practical experience of archaeology with theories of the new humanities. She has taught original classes on collections, junk and art in Museums, at the University of Gdansk and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, and is currently a lecturer at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, majoring in Graphic Design.She is working on her dissertation on the phenomenon of trash in culture, and is finishing the preparation of a multisensory publication, which is a combination of a niche art project and research work on material culture.In her free time, she runs the online project "from things sklad", where she shows and describes micro-histories of things from her own collection.

JULIA KUREK

Academic degrees: dr.

Bio: Visual artist, performer, author of video works and installations. She received her doctoral degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 2018, and her PhD in 2015 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow with a PhD, and from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk with a master's degree. She also studied at Istanbul Marmara Universitesi 2008-2009 and is currently a lecturer at two universities: Academy of Art in Szczecin and Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology in Gdansk.Intensively active in exhibition spaces. VERONIKA LIPNIEWSKA

Bio: Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk from 2008 to 2016. From 2008 to 2011 studied at the Faculty of Interdepartmental Institute of Art Sciences, majoring in Artistic Education in the Field of Plastic Arts, obtaining a bachelor's degree (diploma under the supervision of Prof. Andrzej Dyakowski). From 2011-2014, she studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, earning her bachelor's degree under the supervision of Dr. Adam Kaminski in the Visual Communication Studio. From 2014-2016, she studied for her master's degree in Graphic Design at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. She defended her master's degree with distinction and a perfect grade in 2016 under the supervision of her supervisor Dr. Adam Kaminski and prof. Jadwiga Okrassa.She is engaged in graphic design, drawing and large-format realizations. Using a mastered graphic design technique, she focuses on illustration. She designs illustrations for adults, children, posters, experimental publications, visual identities and even original tattoo forms. She has participated in many group and solo exhibitions. Since 2014, she has co-founded the informal educational group Vidok, implementing workshops for children and young people.Since 2017, she has been a teaching fellow at the Studio of Lettering and Typography at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Science in Gdansk.


MARTA MARSHAL

Degrees: MA.

Functions performed in the departmental structures: Lecturer

Bio: Graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. She defended her diploma with honors in 2012. She has been teaching Narrative Graphics at PJATK since 2013 and Narrative Imagery since 2019. She is passionate about illustration, its history and creators. She collects illustrated books and albums. She creates and exhibits painterly illustrations. She was awarded the Andrzej Tomiałojc prize in the 2012 Satyrykon competition.

KONRAD ROCHE

Degrees: MA.

Functions performed in the departmental structures: Lecturer

Bio: Graphic designer always associated with Gdansk. He founded and runs ROCHE graphic studio, where he does branding and web design. He is very critical of design and strives to make sure everything meets not only high visual standards, but also functional ones. He received his bachelor's degree from PJATK and his master's degree from the Academy of Fine Arts, both with honors. His diplomas deal with the philosophical issues that guide his daily life - decadence, pessimism and doomerism. His cover design for the band Spoiwo won the grand prize in the student design category at the 2020 Polish Graphic Design Awards and a nomination in the fresh blood category at the 2020/2021 Project of the Year. He has participated in the Artem All exhibitions organized by the ASP in Plenum.

FILIP SENDAL

Degrees: dr.

Bio: Gdansk resident. In 2006 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Faculty of Painting and Graphics, majoring in Graphic Design. In his professional work, he has been associated with prestigious national and international companies. Cooperation with companies in the fashion industry awakened in him the passion and need for development in the direction of design and clothing design. These activities are complemented by artistic original photography sessions. In these activities, he uses graphic, digital image processing, experimenting and extended to coexist with other artistic disciplines (such as body painting).Author of the design of numerous covers of scientific publications of universities, including the University of Gdansk Publishing House. Many of them received prestigious awards from public institutions.

MARIUSZ SŁADCZYK

Bio: Graphic designer, illustrator. Graduated in 1984 (PWSSP Gdansk), from 1990-2000, assistant and assistant professor at ASP Gdansk. From 2000-2012, academic teacher at Bilkent University in Ankara. Since 2013, Dean of the Faculty of New Media Art at the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology in Gdansk. JAN SZCZYPKA

Bio: Graduate of the Antoni Kenar State High School of Fine Arts in Zakopane and the Department of Sculpture at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk, graduating in 1987. Awarded first prize at the national diploma show in Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery. Works in sculpture and medals.
He works mainly in metal, still expanding his knowledge of casting and treating technology as a further part of the creative process. He works in bronze, zinc, aluminum and cast iron, seeking his own formal solutions, as well as the expressive, textural and color possibilities of metal. He intersperses sculpture symposia, accompanied by the high temperatures associated with casting, with snow sculpture symposia, in which he receives prestigious national and international awards.
Organizer of the 5th International Conferences devoted to the problems of artistic casting and the 19th edition of the International Foundry Workshops in 2001-2019, which were attended by more than 500 students and educators from Poland, the USA, England, Finland, Italy, Greece, France, Portugal, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Participant in dozens of exhibitions, competitions and symposia at home and abroad, winner of many awards. Author of the monument to John Hevelius in Gdansk. Professor at the Department of Sculpture and Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology.

ANDRZEJ ŚRAMKIEWICZ

Bio: Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, specializing in Graphic Design and Graphic Arts at PJATK in Gdansk. Eng. of Architecture. At PJATK since 2021, he teaches classes in Lettering, Photography and Animation. He currently works as a UX and UI designer and co-manages a design studio. A musician and aquarist by passion.

Bio: Gdansk resident. Graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Obtained a master's degree in Prof. Wieslaw Dembski's studio - Artistic Graphics. Annex in Prof. Maciej Swieszewski's studio - Painting. From 2003 to 2012 he was an assistant in the Studio of Artistic Graphics - metal techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. In 2012, he received a Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Since 2018 he has been working at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Gdansk as an assistant professor and leads the Studio of Artistic Graphics.

JOANNA ZAKRZEWSKA

Degrees: dr.

Positions held within the faculty:Lecturer, Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of New Media Art in Gdańsk, member of the Faculty Council

Bio:Japanese studies scholar (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń), calligrapher and illuminator, lecturer at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Gdańsk (Japanese language, Japanese history and culture, calligraphy). She obtained her doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Graphic Arts. Her academic work focuses on the aesthetics of Japanese art, in particular calligraphy and ink painting. She holds a 7th dan in Japanese calligraphy from the Seifū school. She is also a graduate of the Krakow School of Calligraphy, Illumination and Related Fields. She conducts workshops and demonstrations of Latin and Japanese calligraphy and illumination. She is active in the academic field (monograph "Sakuteiki– notes on garden design," "Rethinking beauty. The aesthetics of Japanese calligraphy," numerous scientific publications, lectures, conferences) as well as in the artistic field (individual and collective exhibitions and workshops).

Bio:Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan in the field of photography. His doctoral thesis "Lutry. An Imaginary Document" defended at the Faculty of Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Lecturer in photography and psychophysiology of vision at PJATK Gdańsk. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodeship. Author of photography of two album publications "Paradissus Marie" and "St. Mary's Church in Zukowo". Constantly cooperates with museums in Tri-City. Creator of photographs for the catalogs of the Museum of the City of Gdynia (including the catalog of Marek Cecula and Glass, metal, detail). In his works he invites the viewer on a journey into himself. Using photography, he poses an important question about the identity of past lives and the permanence of memory. On a daily basis, he photographs jewelry for one of the largest jewelry companies in Poland. Creator of many acclaimed photographic series (including "My gardens", "Afterimages", "Secrets", "Non-memories", "Calotypes", "From this shore sometimes you can see the other shore") and video art (videos "Mantra", "Welcome" presented as part of Krzysztof Jurecki's foreign lectures "Supplement to the Polish video art 1980- 2006").Publications about his work in the following media: Format, Exit, Quarterly Photography, Catalogue of the exhibition of Polish photography of the 20th century in Niigata City Art Museum, Japan, Image World, local media.
